Psalm - Psalm 134-136
November 22, 2009 by: shalomIt is really very wonderful to praise the Lord! Only those who know Him will praise Him from the bottom of the heart, for those who know Him are filled with awe in His presence! For our God is the greatest, and there is none beside Him. Can we know Him if He has not granted us His mercy in revealing Himself to us and shining His true light into us?
Marvelous and wonderful is our True God, the Author of all things that exist. Let us read today’s psalms and I believe we will also be filled with awe and we will not cease to praise Him in our hearts, and even flowing out from our lips the honor, the praises and the thanksgivings due Him!
Bible Passage: Psalms 134 to 136
It is not easy to put in words how I feel or to comment after reading these 3 psalms, so allow me to share a short testimony instead for today’s blog.
The blessings that God has given me are indeed very great. The fact that I was able to come to know Him is already a great blessing in itself.
I remember several times when I was reading the Bible, and all of a sudden, I started to recount all the blessings that God had bestowed upon me, then I would go down on my knees and go on and on praising Him with an uplifted heart.
One incident that is still very vivid in my mind is when I first came to know Christ, I was still a teenager; and my father was strongly against the idea of anyone in the family converting to Christianity from our ancestral beliefs. I was very worried as I started to imagine facing my father about my wanting to become a Christian, he might even throw me out of the house. So this fear overwhelmed my heart and I started to cry.
But very amazingly, in that moment of my fear and sadness, I felt I was being hugged by a pair of very strong arms, and I heard a very gentle voice saying, “You are mine, I love you”. I felt the warmth and the compassion of the Lord! And that brought tremendous comfort to my heart and I cried further, but those tears were tears of joy and comfort that I had never experienced before. Praise the Lord!
When that incident happened, I had not even read a single word from the Bible yet, for I had no idea of where to get a Bible and even if I managed to get one, which I did later on, I won’t be able to read it freely in my house.
From my personal experiences, and also through many sharing from the brethren and other written testimonies, all these can really make me ponder for a long time about the mercies, the blessings, the protections, the guidance and the love from our Heavenly Father.
A sister told me that she could also go on saying “Praise the Lord” or “Hallelujah!” for one whole hour when she recalled of all the goodness that the Lord had bestowed upon her.
Truly our God is worthy of our praises and adorations. Just like the psalms that we have read today, the psalmist went on and on to retell of the showers of the greatness and blessings from God in all aspects of the lives of the Israelites; e.g. from the special grace of being the chosen race (Ps. 135: 4), to the punishing of the enemies of Israel by the hands of God (Ps. 135: 8 - 11), all these are the mercies of God towards His children that endures forever!
I want to share with you all some songs of praises to our God as we ponder again what we have read today. Let us constantly praise the Lord, for He is worthy of all praises.
Praise the Lord!

i asked Lord Jesus to tell me if TJC is His true church.
i was told TJC is the only true church. i was shy and with 99.99% of inferior complex, so i dare not ask anyone. i need to know, so i asked Lord Jesus in a prayer.
The surrounding got brighter and brighter. The brightness was very dense but not glaring. Then a statement appeared in my mind: my father on earth does not love me, my Father in heaven loves me very much.
This is the love from my almighty God.
The Psalmist repeated the line”For His mercy endures forever” in all 26 lines in Ps 136. He praised God through creation, history and daily providence.
How do i explain Lord Jesus’ love? How has He demonstrated that His mercy endures forever in my life?
Lord Jesus gives me the Holy Spirit.
Yes, my sins are washed away at baptism. The Holy Spirit is my guarantee to my inheritance in heaven.
More importantly Lord Jesus abides in me through the Holy Spirit to share my joy, sadness, holiness, weaknesses…ups, downs and all.
i call this love.
To the strong, it takes effort to love a weak. Or a beautiful to empathize with an ugly.
My almighty God willingly shares everything i go through bec He loves me.
He has not left me as an orphan. He holds my hand till i leave this world.
Lord Jesus gives me His Holy Spirit.
For His mercy endures forever.
