Psalm - Psalm 149-150
December 27, 2009 by: shalomWe have come to the grand finale of the Book of Psalms. The psalmist is calling everyone to sing praises to God in triumph! And to sing praises to God for the judgment of the wicked!
As I read these last 2 psalms, I could actually feel, and as if hear the shouts of hallelujahs in the most joyous of spirit from the children of God.
Bible Passage: Psalms 149 to 150
God Is Our Source Of Strength And Joy
Psalms 149 and 150 are really filled with the highest spirit of praise to the Lord. It not only calls for a congregational praise to the Lord, but to also give thanks and praises to the Lord individually with the whole being, expressed in dancing and playing of instruments.
Let Israel rejoice in their Maker;
Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.
Let them praise His name with the dance;
Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.
Psa 149:2 - 3
As I come to verse 5, this phrase kept me thinking, “…Let them sing aloud on their beds.” What does this mean? I think it means never to allow our lips to rest from praising the Lord even while we are sleeping. Do you agree? Is it possible?
While one is sleeping, there is no control of our minds; we let our minds wonder while we rest. So we start to dream about things.
I am a person who dreams every time when I sleep. And sometimes I really wonder why I don’t dream about godly matters. I think it is because I never meditate on the word of God enough.
There is a Chinese saying, 日有所思,夜有所梦, literally means “whatever thoughts you have in the day, you will dream about it in the night”. I really agree to this phenomenon, because I have such experiences too.
I think if we can meditate more in the words and wonders of God, we can also praise Him on our beds as we sleep.
Life apart from God is miserable and dark, but we have God as our source of strength and joy. He is truly worth our praises day and night, and even in our sleep!
Extol The Lord In Any Circumstances We May Face!
Our God is a righteous God, He would never allow the wicked to go unpunished. God has His time and His will in all things, so all that we need to do is to praise God for all things.
We must praise Him in times of peace, but all the more we must praise Him in times of harsh difficulties.
Indeed we must praise and thank God in times of tribulations, for if we endure in faith, we shall emerge as gold being refined, pure and without blemish in the eyes of the Lord.
And in times of persecutions, praise and thank Him for the hope He has given us, and be certain that retribution and vengeance from the Lord will visit our oppressors.
We may have come to the grand finale of the Book of Psalms, but in praises to God, there should not be an end to it. We must stand firm in His grace, so that we can praise Him till the day we meet Him face to face! So let us praise on, praise His Name, for He is worthy!

Greater is He who is in me!!!
i can praise the hurt away bec Lord Jesus can comfort from within me. Lord Jesus may not change the circumstance. Instead He gives me a change of heart that my heart rejoices in my Maker and be joyful in my King.
