Luke 12
January 20, 2010 by: InHisTimeBible Passage: Luke 12
Today’s bible reading passage is one we are all familiar with- Do not worry because God is our provider.
Fearful for nothing
And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?(v25)
Trying to stop worrying is like trying to go to sleep. The more we work at it the more impossible it becomes.
However, relief comes in acknowledging God who is greater than our fears.
Fear him and we will have nothing else to fear!
Prayerful for everything
We fear and worry about nothing if we are prayerful for everything.
Many times, instead of examining ourselves, we murmur against Him when things do not go our way, or even blame Him for the consequences to our own actions.(Proverbs 3:5)
It is very hard to do nothing but to willingly submit and trust in God’s will, to fully entrust our lives in God’s hands.
May the Lord lead us to depend on him entirely.
Another verse that left an impression on me was in verse 1.
“….when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together, so that they trampled one another”
The Chinese bible stated:
“有 几 万 人 聚 集 , 甚 至 彼 此 践 踏”
Normally we only hear of such incidences occurring in concerts, where die hard fans fight tooth and nail to get near to their favourite idols and celebrities.
How wonderful it is for the people to claw their way through, just to hear the Word of God!
Today are we as eager, fighting as hard to attend church services, or are we just Sabbath Christians?
Do we also yearn to listen to the Word of God?
Do we read the bible and pray everyday?
We only give a tiny fraction of our time to the Lord each day and yet we claim that we love Him.
Everything we have is a gift from God. Every second and every minute that we have belongs to Him.
With all the other tasks competing for our time, we still can spend time with God if we are wiling to, and if we spend our time wisely.
Our Lord did command us to put Him first in all things (Matthew 6:31-33), so let us set aside some time in our busy schedules to get closer to our Lord and give glory to Him.
May He lead us to be pleasing to Him and not lose sight of Him.

Why do we come before Lord Jesus? To get Him to tell our brothers to divide the inheritance with us?
Lord Jesus tells us to fear Him who after He has killed, has power to cast into hell.
We come before Lord Jesus so that our soul can have eternal peace.
Lord Jesus speaks the parable of the wacthful servants whose waists are girded and lamps burning. In Luke 12: 50 Lord Jesus continued,”But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished.”
Even Lord Jesus is watchful. How can we slack?
Lord Jesus told us not to seek after the world, nor have disputes with others over matters of this earth. Yet in the same breath, He warned that there will be division even in a small famliy of 5.
The division is worthwhile only when it concerns confessing Lord Jesus before men (Luke 12:9,11) and the kingdom of God (Luke 12:31). This is especially so for those whose whole household is yet to believe.
This is the grading system of Lord Jesus:
For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required;
and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more. (Luke 12:48)
Yes, Lord Jesus holds tommorrow. The Holy Spirit is our Teacher today.
